Zoom lens with a focal length of 24-105mm that delivers high image quality
- Optical design with 18 elements in 14 groups, including 3 glass-molded aspherical lenses and 1 UD lens with special optical materials, achieves both high image quality and a compact optical system. Various aberrations are reduced.
- Special coating "ASC (Air Sphere Coating)" provides significant anti-reflection effect for light incident at a near-perpendicular angle to the lens surface. This suppresses flare and ghosting, contributing to higher image quality.
- While achieving high image quality, the overall length of the lens has been reduced by 10.7mm to approx. 107.3mm. Combined with the mirrorless camera "EOS R," this lens provides a highly mobile camera system.

Fast and smooth AF with "nano USM," the first L-lens to be equipped with this feature
- The EF-S18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM (released in March 2016), which is compatible with the EF mount, is the first L-lens to feature the nano USM (Ultrasonic Motor).
- Combined with the Dual Pixel CMOS AF of the EOS R mirrorless camera, it delivers high-speed AF during still image shooting and smooth AF during movie shooting.

Image stabilization effect equivalent to 5 stops in shutter speed
- The latest microprocessor enables Canon lenses to achieve an image stabilization effect equivalent to a shutter speed of 5 stops.
- The image stabilization effect is improved by linking with the camera through high-speed communication. When shooting still images, the lens is compatible with Dual Sensing IS, which provides image stabilization for large shakes, such as those caused by body shaking. When shooting movies, the camera supports Combination IS, which combines optical image stabilization in the lens and electronic image stabilization in the camera body to provide superior image stabilization.
