Product Features

NIKKOR's first fisheye zoom lens that offers two types of fisheye effects in a single lens.

- Two types of fisheye effects: circumferential fisheye and diagonal fisheye

In FX format, a circular fisheye image with an angle of view of 180° all around at the wide end of the zoom range and a diagonal fisheye image with a diagonal angle of 180° near the telephoto end can be captured.

In DX format, a diagonal fisheye image of up to 180° can be captured between near the DX index of the zoom and the telephoto end. The unique fisheye deformation effect greatly expands the range of shooting and expression.

- High resolving power for sharp images right to the periphery

The latest optical design is compatible with high-definition digital SLR cameras. The entire imaging range is sharply resolved from the maximum aperture across the entire zoom range, and stable high image quality can be obtained even when the aperture is stopped down.

Excellent descriptive performance with minimal loss of peripheral resolution even at close range. With a minimum focusing distance of 0.16m, the lens allows the photographer to get as close as 3cm from the lens tip to the subject, and the maximum magnification of 0.34x enables close-up photography in dynamic compositions.

Furthermore, the two aspherical lens elements provide excellent image reproduction even at the widest aperture, right up to the periphery.

- State-of-the-art optical design that suppresses ghosting, flare, and lateral chromatic aberration

The use of three ED lenses effectively corrects lateral chromatic aberration and suppresses color blur on the periphery of the image.

The nano crystalline coating suppresses ghosting and flare, resulting in clear images despite the wide angle of view, which tends to capture the sun.

- Circular and Diagonal Fisheye Lenses in One Lens

In FX format, at the 8mm focal length at the wide end, the lens produces a 180° all-round fisheye image, and at the 15mm telephoto end, it produces a diagonal fisheye image with a 180° diagonal angle of view (*1).

In DX format, the maximum diagonal fisheye angle of 180° can be achieved when the focal length is set from near the DX indicator (*2) on the focal length scale to the telephoto end (circumferential fisheye shooting is not possible).

When zooming, unlike normal zoom lenses, not only the focal length but also the image circle changes.

*1: When set to 15mm at the telephoto end, the angle of view is 175° (diagonal fisheye). To obtain a diagonal fisheye with a 180° angle of view, rotate the lens slightly toward the wide end from the 15mm focal length.

*2: The DX indicator is for reference only. It is recommended to check the image monitor while shooting.

- Superior Mobility and Reliable Dustproof, Splashproof, and Smudgeproof Performance

The lens barrel is dustproof and drip-proof, with seals applied throughout the lens barrel and other moving parts to prevent dust and water droplets from entering, and Nikon's original fluorine coating is used to prevent dust and water droplets from adhering and to wipe off easily.

In addition, the lightweight body weighs only 485g, despite the fisheye effect of two lenses (a circumferential fisheye lens and a diagonal fisheye lens).

The lens cap and hood can be removed in one piece for quick attachment and removal, and the LC-K102 cover-type lens cap and HB-80 bayonet hood are also included.

*Although the lens is constructed to be dustproof and drip-proof, complete dust and drip-proofing is not guaranteed in all conditions.

*This lens is not compatible with D2 series, D1 series, D200, D100, D90, D80, D70 series, D60, D50, D40 series, D3000, and film SLR cameras.
