Product Features

- Limited Lenses" with a focus on image depiction and texture
Following the concept of the "Limited Lens" series, the "taste of the lens" is pursued not only through numerical evaluation using test equipment, etc., but also through repeated image quality evaluation using actual shooting to provide feedback to the design. When shooting in the distance, the lens produces a homogeneous image right to the periphery, and when the aperture is stopped down, the entire image is clear and sharp, with a high overall sense of resolution. On the other hand, when shooting at close-up, the descriptive characteristics of the lens change. When shooting with the aperture wide open, the focus plane is sharp and the out-of-focus area is softly and gently blurred, giving an image that brings the subject into sharp focus, along with a strongly exaggerated perspective characteristic of ultra-wide angle lenses. From landscapes to snapshots to close-up photography with a minimum distance of 18cm, the lens delivers images of a variety of subjects according to their individual characteristics. The lens barrel, hood, and cap are all made of high-grade machined aluminum.

- The latest optical technology
Four ED glass elements and one Super ED glass element are used in the optical system to reduce chromatic aberration so that not only the focus plane but also the out-of-focus image is free of color blur. The use of a large-diameter concave meniscus lens, biconvex glass-molded aspherical lenses, and highly refractive glass for the first lens reduces the size of the lens despite its ultra-wide angle and delivers sharp image performance with no image flow to the periphery. The HD Coating, a high-performance multi-coating that reduces the average reflectance in the visible light range to approximately 50% or less compared to conventional coatings, effectively suppresses ghosting and flare under severe shooting conditions such as backlit conditions.

- Electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism for high-precision control
An electromagnetic diaphragm* is used for the aperture mechanism. When used in combination with a compatible digital SLR camera, smooth aperture control is possible. Even if the aperture changes due to large changes in brightness during shooting, smooth exposure changes can be achieved, enabling smooth movie shooting even under stage lighting with large exposure differences or in a forest with sunlight filtering through the trees.

*KAF4 mount compatible with electromagnetic diaphragm. Compatible models are PENTAX K-1 Mark II, K-1, K-3 Mark III, K-3 II, K-3, KP, K-70, K-50, K-S2, and K-S1. Please update to the latest firmware before use. 70, K-50, K-S2, K-S1, the angle of view is equivalent to 32mm in 35mm format.

- Drip-proof construction
The lens is drip-proof to prevent water droplets from entering the lens. When combined with our digital SLR bodies that are drip-proof, the lens offers improved reliability in the rain, fog, and splashing water.

- Other Features
The front surface of the lens is coated with a stain-resistant SP (Super Protect) coating.
The serial number of the lens starts from 0000001.
The lens is equipped with an in-lens motor-driven autofocus system for quiet and smooth autofocus operation.
The lens is equipped with a circular aperture with 8 diaphragm blades, which produces a beautiful glow when shooting a point light source and enhances the limited lens's unique rendering with soft bokeh near the maximum aperture setting.
The Quick Shift Focus System (QFS-A) enables smooth manual focusing without switching to the manual mode after focusing in AF mode.
