The world's lightest 600mm focal length super-telephoto single focal length lens

- Despite being a telephoto lens, the RF600mm F11 IS STM is the world's lightest at approximately 930g. Compared to conventional super-telephoto lenses*1, the lens is approximately 70% lighter, enabling a high degree of mobility.

- The use of a DO lens with optical performance equivalent to that of multiple lenses in a single lens element has reduced the number of lens elements, resulting in a compact and lightweight lens.

- The use of a fixed aperture structure with a maximum aperture of f/11 has made it possible to reduce the size and weight of the camera. The EOS R system's "Dual Pixel CMOS AF," in which each pixel combines both image capture and phase detection AF, and the high-resolution, high-visibility electronic viewfinder (EVF) make shooting comfortable.

- The lens body can be compactly stowed away when being carried around, achieving a high level of portability. The RF600mm F11 IS STM is approximately 199.5mm in length when the lens is retracted (approximately 26% shorter than the total length when shooting).

New optical system including DO lens realizes high image quality

- The "RF600mm F11 IS STM" is composed of 10 elements in 7 groups.

- The new optical system, which includes a DO lens that has both a chromatic aberration correction effect and aspheric lens characteristics, suppresses chromatic aberration and other various aberrations to achieve excellent image quality.

- New materials are used for the contact double-layer diffractive optical elements used for the DO lenses, and the cost of the DO lenses is kept down, contributing to the realization of a popular price range for the new products. 3.

Various Functions for Comfortable Shooting

- Equipped with an image stabilization mechanism to assist hand-held shooting. The RF600mm F11 IS STM provides 5.0 stops* of image stabilization in terms of shutter speed. This reduces camera shake, which is more noticeable in ultra-telephoto photography.

- The lead-screw stepping motor (STM) enables high-speed, high-precision autofocusing during still image shooting and smooth autofocusing in accordance with subject movement during movie shooting.
