Basic Information

Product Name Camera Lens NIKKOR Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S [Nikon Z mount] [Nikon Z / zoom lens
Model No. NZ14242.8

Product Features

A large-aperture ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that combines the world's shortest and lightest* body weighing approximately 650g with the overwhelming descriptive power of a maximum aperture of F2.8, thanks to a new optical design featuring a large-aperture double aspherical lens in the front element.

- The world's shortest and lightest* body with the image rendering power of the Z mount

The double-sided aspheric lens used in the front lens element and the new optical design that takes advantage of the short flange back of the Z mount make this the world's shortest and lightest* ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that combines high mobility with overwhelming image rendering performance. This unprecedented large-aperture ultra-wide-angle zoom lens will greatly expand your shooting field. The lightest* weight of approximately 650g was achieved by reducing the size and weight to the limit. It is an unprecedented ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that allows you to carry around high image quality with ease.

*Among interchangeable zoom lenses for full-size interchangeable lens (Nikon FX format) digital cameras with a constant f/2.8 maximum aperture starting from a focal length of 14mm or less that have been announced as of September 16, 2020. Based on Nikon research.

- Large-diameter double-sided aspheric lens mounted on the front element

In order to further enhance optical performance, the front lens of the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED is no longer equipped with a large-diameter, double-sided aspherical lens. mm f/2.8G ED by adopting a large-aperture, double-sided aspheric lens. In addition, the short flange back of the Z-mount allows the aspherical lens on the furthest side to be positioned close to the image sensor (image sensor), achieving a significant reduction in size and weight as well as the highest level of optical performance in its class.

- Outstanding descriptive performance with a constant maximum aperture of 2.8 F value throughout the entire zoom range from the ultra-wide angle of 14mm

The lens is equipped with a new optical system that achieves a constant maximum aperture of 2.8 throughout the entire zoom range, from ultra-wide angle to 14mm. Regardless of the focal length or shooting distance, from the maximum aperture to the periphery of the image, the lens delivers a resolving power far superior to that of the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED. Even in dark scenes with low light levels, such as landscape photography utilizing a 14mm ultra-wide angle or indoors without a pull, a lower ISO sensitivity and low noise High image quality can be obtained. In particular, the resolution on the periphery of the ultra-wide-angle side of the image has been dramatically improved. In addition, fast shutter speeds can be used to minimize camera shake and subject blur.

- High point-image reproducibility for beautiful night scenes

In addition to one double-sided aspherical lens on the front of the optical system, two aspherical lenses effectively suppress sagittal coma flare* even at the widest aperture. From the maximum aperture setting to the entire zoom range, the lens produces beautiful point images with extremely little color blur and a solid core. In particular, the lens's point image reproducibility has been further enhanced at the maximum aperture of 2.8, beautifully reproducing point light sources not only in the center of the image but also on the periphery. This lens offers even better point-blank reproducibility throughout the entire zoom range than the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED, which is also a favorite of professionals.

- Controls that can be used with the same ease as those of previous models

The control layout features a zoom ring and focus ring in the same positions as those of the AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED, allowing operation with a familiar feel. Furthermore, the rotation angle of the zoom ring and focus ring has been optimized to provide the same operability, concentrating the superior technology and know-how cultivated in the F-mount. The focus ring is even more responsive to operation, enabling smoother and more precise focusing.

- Two types of filters (sold separately) can be attached despite being an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens

Despite being an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens with a maximum aperture of 2.8 and a focal length starting at 14mm, a genuine Nikon 112mm screw-in filter can be attached to the tip of the lens via the bayonet hood HB-97 (included). The lens also features a filter frame on the mount side of the lens that allows easy attachment of commercially available sheet-type filters such as gelatin filters. Simply cut the filter sheet into squares and trim off the four corners, and you can start shooting right away without having to take the time to prepare.

- Choice of two types of lens hoods (included)

Two types of lens hoods are included in the kit: Bayonet Hood HB-97, which can be used with 112mm threaded filters, and Bayonet Hood HB-96, which is more compact and easy to carry around. The bayonet hood HB-97 also comes with a cover-type lens cap LC-K104 that can be carried with filters attached. The HB-97 is also ideal for active photography.

- High video performance with ease of use

In addition to offering the same high resolution as still images, the HB-97 is also easy to use when shooting movies. Not only does it prevent the lens from making noise when driving or operating the lens, even when shooting in quiet places, but its flicker-free aperture control ensures that changes in brightness are natural.
