G-SHOCK Sustainability Theme Model
- Since its launch in 1983, the G-SHOCK line of toughness watches has continued to evolve in pursuit of insatiable strength, and this model uses recycled materials under the theme of sustainability.
- The band is made of materials from the “FOOD TEXTILE” project, which recycles discarded foodstuffs as dye, and the base model is the GMD-S5600, a smaller and thinner version of the iconic square design DW-5600.
- The crossband of the GMD-S5600CT-3 is dyed with a color extracted from red turnips to create a gentle blue-gray hue, while the crossband of the GMDS5600CT-4 is dyed with a color extracted from cherry blossoms to create a soft pale pink.
The gentle shades are characterized by the use of more than 90% natural dyes.
The band is made of TRUECOTTON, a TRACEABLE (traceable) organic cotton that can be “farm and mill identified”, protecting the working environment and craftsmanship of all those involved in its production, while reducing the burden on the environment.
- The main resin parts of the bezel are made of biomass plastic, a material derived from renewable organic resources that is expected to contribute to the reduction of environmental burdens, including the reduction of CO2 emissions.
What should have been simply thrown away has been reborn as a new watch, a sustainable watch that is also environmentally friendly.
[FOOD TEXTILE]
This is a project to reuse discarded foodstuffs from the fashion industry.
Food companies and farms buy out misshapen and out-of-spec foodstuffs and scraps of cut vegetables that would otherwise be thrown away, extract the ingredients contained in the plants, and dye them with dyes.
In addition to developing original products, we have worked with various domestic fashion brands and interior design manufacturers to produce, sell, and commercialize products to address the issue of food loss.
Currently, we are working with over 15 domestic food-related companies, agriculture, and farms to create a sustainable system that connects the industry.

TRACEABLE organic cotton is traceable to the farm and mill.
The cotton is produced in an environment where the workers on the cotton farms can lead healthy and bright lives, and the workers at the spinning mills, where the cotton is spun into yarn, are encouraged to work hard tomorrow.
