Product Features
SIGMA's first large aperture single-focal length lens with a maximum aperture of F1.2.
- The “Art Line for the Mirrorless Era” further advances the “pursuit of the highest image quality” and achieves a maximum aperture value of F1.2.
The first AF lens for full-frame L-mount and Sony E-mount lenses with an F1.2 maximum aperture. The lens offers an overwhelming sense of resolution and a large bokeh effect for portraits and other subjects that take advantage of the shallow depth of field. The development concept of the Art line, “pursuit of the highest image quality,” was further advanced by utilizing the in-camera optical correction function, while aberrations that are difficult to post-process are thoroughly corrected by optical design to enhance the resolution.
Product names: “DG” is used for lenses designed for the 35mm format image circle, and “DN” is used for lenses designed for mirrorless cameras with a short flange back.
- SIGMA's first large-aperture single-focal length lens with a maximum aperture of F1.2
The “Art Line for the Mirrorless Era” is a 12-group 17-element lens with three SLD glass elements and three aspherical lens elements, including a double-sided aspherical lens, optimally positioned to achieve the highest performance possible for a 35mm focal length large-aperture lens. In addition to an optical design that takes advantage of the short flange back, the lens also makes effective use of in-camera correction functions for distortion and vignetting, and while achieving resolution that can withstand 50+ megapixel lenses, Sigma's accumulated optical design technologies are fully applied to address various aberrations that are difficult to correct in post-processing, such as sagittal coma flare. Sigma's optical design technologies are fully applied to thoroughly correct aberrations that are difficult to correct in post-processing, such as sagittal coma flare, to achieve unparalleled resolution.
- High operability to support all types of still and video photography
The large ultrasonic motor HSM provides sufficient torque to drive the focus group for comfortable AF shooting, even with large F1.2 aperture lenses, while the biwire-driven focus ring with optimal torque setting responds to the photographer's fine-tuned control during MF shooting. The aperture ring is equipped with a de-click mechanism that eliminates clicking. This enables smooth aperture operation, which is useful for video shooting and other applications.
- Functions to Support Comfortable Shooting in Various Situations
The AFL button, which can be assigned to various functions, expands the range of operations on the lens side. In addition to the dustproof and drip-proof mechanism, the frontmost surface of the lens is coated with a water and stain repellent coating. This makes the lens suitable for shooting in a variety of environments.
- Full-time manual mechanism
- Lockable hood
- Compatible with the Mount Exchange Service
- Flare and ghosting are minimized
- All images are inspected by Sigma's original MTF measuring instrument “A1
- 11-blade circular aperture
