Dual phase linear motor is a new type of actuator that delivers approximately three times*2 the thrust of a conventional linear motor in the same volume ratio, while maintaining the high-speed, high-precision, quietness, and other features of a linear motor.

High resolution performance and exquisite descriptive power are exhibited in all shooting areas from the center to the periphery. While faithfully depicting the details of the subject, the lens also produces the smooth and beautiful bokeh typical of mid-telephoto macro lenses with minimal ring lines, aperture eclipse, and two-line bokeh.
The optimal arrangement of three aspherical lenses, two UED lenses, and one ED lens effectively suppresses chromatic aberration, spherical aberration, and other aberrations, resulting in outstanding descriptive performance and smooth bokeh despite its compact size and light weight.

The lens focuses in a double-focus configuration, with the frame holding the focus lens driven along the guide axis. The new optical design and the newly developed dual-phase linear motor provide both high-speed, high-precision AF performance that excels in tracking moving objects and quiet AF movement performance. This allows users to shoot movies without worrying about focus drive noise, thereby shortening post-production work.

The optical design for high-definition video recording and optimization of the lens barrel's internal structure suppresses breathing, which causes the angle of view to change as the focus position shifts during video recording.
In addition, even in scenes with large luminance changes, aperture micro-step control prevents abrupt exposure changes by smoothly controlling f-number changes. It also supports stable exposure control when panning during movie recording. The focus ring can be switched between linear and non-linear settings. In the non-linear system, the focus ring moves by a variable amount in response to the rotation speed of the focus ring operation, enabling agile focus adjustment. In the linear system, the focus shifts by a fixed amount of movement in relation to the amount of rotation of the focus ring, and the amount of rotation can be set according to the shooting scene, enabling intuitive and precise mechanical-like focusing in accordance with the photographer's intentions during movie shooting.
