The world's shortest and lightest* large-aperture telephoto zoom lens with an overall length of approximately 146mm when retracted and a weight of approximately 1070g.

The UD aspherical lens, Super UD lens, and UD lens are arranged to provide images with minimal color blur throughout the entire zoom range.

Taking advantage of the large-diameter mount and short back focus, the large-diameter lens is placed close to the imaging surface on the camera side to downsize the optical system. A zoom type lens with variable overall length was adopted in consideration of balance during shooting, and two aspherical lenses were effectively placed. The lens is the world's shortest* and lightest* focal length 70-200mm with a maximum aperture of 2.8mm on an interchangeable lens camera with a full-size sensor.

- High image quality over a wide range of focal lengths

The optical design with 17 elements in 13 groups, including 1 super UD lens, 3 UD lenses, 1 UD aspherical lens, and 1 glass-molded aspherical lens, reduces aberrations that cause image quality degradation from the center to the periphery of the image to achieve high image quality at a wide range of focal lengths, from 70mm to 200mm, across the entire zoom range. This ensures high image quality throughout the entire zoom range at a wide range of focal lengths from 70mm to 200mm.

- Image Stabilization Effectiveness of up to 5 stops*.

The image stabilization effect when shooting still images has been improved by up to 5 stops* thanks to a review of the optical IS control algorithm and the dual-sensing IS. The ability to slow down the shutter speed even in dark scenes expands the possibilities for hand-held photography.
