This ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is newly designed by integrating Sony's proprietary advanced optical technologies to produce clear, high-resolution images from the maximum aperture.
With a wide angle of view of 12mm, the widest angle of view of any E-mount lens, you can enjoy photographic expression with a sense of perspective and the high descriptive performance unique to G lenses.
While maintaining high optical performance, the lens is also highly portable thanks to its class-leading compact and lightweight design.

- New optical design including four aspherical lens elements achieves high resolution performance from the maximum aperture despite the ultra-wide angle.

- Optimized arrangement of three ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements and one Super ED glass element corrects chromatic aberration and produces clear images right up to the periphery of the picture plane.

- The use of the Nano AR coating significantly suppresses flare and ghosting, resulting in clear, crisp images.

- The lens barrel length has been downsized through a new optical design and the diameter of the front element has been reduced to achieve a weight of approximately 565g. Excellent portability matched to the compact E-mount body.
