Since its launch in 1983, the G-SHOCK toughness watch has continued to evolve in pursuit of unrelenting strength. This model features a design motif inspired by the “red lantern,” a symbol of Japan’s pub culture.
The red lantern is said to have originated in the Edo period, when taverns began painting their originally white lanterns red to attract customers. This practice eventually became widespread, evolving into a uniquely Japanese cultural symbol that brings warmth and vitality to people’s hearts as a place to enjoy a casual drink or meal after work. This time, we’ve infused that warmth into G-SHOCK as a Made in Japan model.
With the red of the lantern as the base color, this unique design features G-SHOCK’s signature “shock-resistant” print in a distinctive font, extending from the bezel to the band. The meticulous specifications incorporate the characteristics of the red lantern into the G-SHOCK, including buttons and the bezel ring inspired by the hues of the backlight and the lantern’s handle. The lantern motif is also engraved on the case back, and the packaging features a bold design of a red lantern glowing in the dark.
* Biomass plastic is used for the main resin parts of the bezel and band. Made from renewable organic resources, this material is expected to contribute to reducing environmental impact.
