Hatsune Miku is brought to life as a beautifully charming Japanese doll figure based on the artist Choko Fuji's new illustration.
In Japanese culture, the word "hatsune" (which literally means "first sound") originally refers to the sound of birds and insects, especially Japanese bush warblers, singing for the first time that year. Every detail of this doll figure is sculpted with utmost care to portray its theme of gracefulness and modesty.
The patterns on the furisode (kimono sleeves) are skillfully connected even across the sewing line, which was achieved through repeated trial and error during production. Gold foil is also applied to add a gorgeous glow to the fabric.
The kimono was colored with the traditional Yuzen dyeing technique, using molds to carefully dye one color at a time; 12 shades have been used for the green part of the kimono, and 11 shades for the blue part. The time and effort poured into this figure gives it a unique depth of color. The facial expression of Miku in the original illustration is recreated with absolute perfection; the jewel-like eyes that catch the light and sparkle in various shades, the slightly blushed cheeks with a hint of vermilion, and the soft, cherry-pink colored lips, giving an overall calm and gentle impression.
"The face is life" saying is true for both figures and Japanese dolls.
