Product Features

The G1X Mark III delivers high image quality worthy of a flagship model in a lightweight compact body by combining an APS-C size CMOS sensor, a large-aperture zoom lens, and the DIGIC 7 imaging engine.

- The G1X Mark III delivers crisp, sharp images exactly as you see them. 24.2-megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor

The G1X Mark III is the first Canon compact camera to use an APS-C size CMOS sensor. The sensor offers high resolution, wide dynamic range, rich gradation, and a maximum normal ISO sensitivity of 25600, all in pursuit of even higher image quality befitting a flagship model. It also offers a wide range of expressive capabilities, including Dual Pixel CMOS AF, high-speed continuous shooting at a maximum of approximately 9.0 frames per second, and Full HD 60p video.

- Newly developed 24-72mm lens with high image quality throughout the entire zoom range

Large-aperture lens optimized for the APS-C size CMOS sensor. Within a limited space, it achieves a focal length of 24-72mm, an F2.8 aperture at the wide-angle end, and a minimum focusing distance of 10cm. The lens delivers high descriptive power that brings out the full potential of the approximately 24.2 million high pixel count. Three double-sided aspherical lenses and one single-sided aspherical lens are used to highly suppress various aberrations. In addition, the inner focus system enables high-speed AF. The high image quality of the large sensor and high-performance lens has been condensed into a lightweight, compact body.

- Approx. 399g. Lightweight and compact body

The G1X Mark III is designed to make the time you spend taking high-quality photographs even more enjoyable. The G1X Mark III is a compact, lightweight camera with a larger sensor and a built-in high-resolution EVF, yet it weighs only 154 g less than the G1X Mark II and is approximately 14.8 mm thinner. The APS-C size CMOS sensor and other outstanding expressive capabilities can be easily taken along with you in your daily life, on trips, and in a variety of other situations.

- Dual Pixel CMOS AF to capture the moment

Touch the screen and the camera instantly focuses. This is Canon's unique Dual Pixel CMOS AF, the first compact camera to feature it. By combining the functions of both the image capture and phase detection AF sensors, the AF sensor is able to measure a wide area of approximately 80% (vertical) x 80% (horizontal) of the image capture surface. By simply shaking the LCD monitor, the camera can quickly capture subjects that are not in the center of the image. The camera also provides highly accurate and speedy AF even in dark scenes such as indoors. This feature is also effective during movie recording. Focus feed is quick and smooth, and even moving subjects can be smoothly brought into focus and recorded.

- Built-in EVF and touch-and-drag AF for greater comfort

The built-in 0.39-inch high-resolution viewfinder with approximately 2.36 million dots and an OLED display. The viewfinder offers high resolution, a wide color gamut, and a high-contrast field of view. The viewfinder has been thoroughly adjusted to ensure that there is no discrepancy between the viewfinder image and the finished product. We also sought to make the display screen easy to use. The camera also supports touch-and-drag AF, which allows the user to move the AF frame by touching the LCD monitor while looking through the EVF. In conjunction with Smooth Zone AF, this feature is effective for shooting subjects that move unexpectedly.
