A 5.3x zoom lens with a magnification of approximately 5.3x that covers the entire range from ultra wide-angle to the easy-to-use telephoto range with a single lens.

- Highly practical, 5.3x zoom from ultra-wide angle
With a focal length equivalent to 24.5-130mm (35mm film camera equivalent), this 5.3x zoom lens covers the entire range from ultra-wide angle to telephoto range. In addition to the focal range most frequently used in general photography, the lens enables shooting with unique expressive effects such as the emphasis on perspective and deep depth of field characteristic of wide-angle photography, and can be used for scenes such as vast landscapes and rooms without depth, further expanding the range of photography.

- High descriptive performance that is compatible with high-resolution bodies
The 12-group, 16-element lens construction uses three high-performance aspherical lenses and one special low-dispersion (ED) glass element to suppress spherical aberration and chromatic aberration, resulting in images with minimal color blurring. In addition, in order to accommodate high-resolution image sensors, the lens has a higher MTF than conventional lenses in the same class, which allows for higher resolution and finer image rendition.

- HD Coating" for enhanced descriptive performance
The lens employs our unique "HD Coating" high-performance multi-coating. Compared to conventional multi-coatings, the HD Coating is less reflective and has higher transmittance, which reduces ghosting and flare in backlit and other harsh lighting conditions, resulting in clear, high-contrast images.

- Quick Shift Focus System
The "Quick-shift Focus System" enables manual focusing without switching to the manual mode after the autofocus has focused on the subject.

- Splashproof construction
The lens is sealed in eight locations to prevent water from entering the lens. Combined with a PENTAX digital SLR body that is drip-proof, the lens offers improved durability and reliability in rain, fog, and splashing water.

The front surface of the lens is coated with a stain-resistant SP (Super Protect) coating.
A circular aperture suppresses glare when shooting point light sources and produces a soft circular bokeh effect.
