Since ancient times, the existence of “demons” has been passed down in Japan in various forms.
Since the Heian period (794-1185), the invisible terror of plague was referred to as “oni,” and the disappearance of people in the capital one after another was also attributed to "oni.
People also referred to unknown races (aliens) as “ogres,” and other strange and bizarre phenomena that defied evil minds and understanding were thought to be the work of " demons (yokai).
What they all have in common is that they are different from us.
In the 10th “Japanese Light” exhibition, you will see various expressions in each room under the theme of “Oni” (demons).
What will we find at the end of the world that appears each time we go up the stairs?
We hope you will spend a moment to question your own mind about the existence of “demons” that still live in the present age.
